6 must-play games this Christmas

Wondering what you’re going to do with all that time between Christmas and the New Year when there’s no work to do and plenty of time for relaxing. Or maybe you just need some last minute present ideas for the gamer in your family.

Here’s six of the best new games releases to keep you entertained over the festive season.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

A giant, sprawling game set in the fantasy land of Skyrim. The signature style of the Elder Scrolls games is complete freedom to do anything, over hundreds of hours of gameplay your character will grow and develop in exactly the way you want them to. Plus, you get to fight dragons.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

A massively multiplayer online game in which you can develop a character within the Star Wars universe. Like World of Warcraft, the key to this game is other people: it’s a massively multiplayer online game, which means thousands of other players will be in the same exciting game world as you. Sadly, the Force is only with PC gamers for this one.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

Ezio, the free running assassin from Renaissance Italy, returns in the third and final part of the saga. Older, wiser, but still as acrobatic and deadly, he’s headed out to Constantinople in search of an ancestor’s tomb. It’s one of the most stylish and well polished games you’ll find, and loads of fun too.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Billed as the best Zelda game since Ocarina of Time almost 15 years ago, Skyward Sword is a deceptively simple game that looks like it’s made for children but is engaging and deep for gamers of all ages.

Kinect: Just Dance 3

Got an Xbox with the full body Kinect motion controller? Just Dance 3 is a great way to break the ice at Christmas parties, and will help you burn off the extra calories from all that cake too.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North

Put together your own fellowship in this action adventure RPG set in JRR Tolkien’s Middle Earth. It’s a strong single player game, but even better when you quest with friends in the online co-operative mode.
