Android gets snappy with the Nikon S800c

It’s a simple sell for Nikon: their new compact lets you enjoy expert photography crossed with all the internet sharing of a smartphone.

The Nikon S800c: a camera with a little green Android inside.

The Nikon S800c combines an advanced Nikon compact camera with the Android operating system, so you can take great shots then instantly share them via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any Android app over a Wi-Fi connection or your 3G phone.

Powered by Google Android 2.3, the Nikon S800c is otherwise a high-spec compact with a 16MP CMOS sensor capable of 8fps continuous shooting, 10x optical zoom and a 3.5-inch rear touchscreen.

It’s great for video too, shooting in Full HD 1080p, and has an ISO sensitivity up to 3200. The camera also features 680MB of memory for storing downloaded apps, GPS for geo-tagging and an SD slot for storage.

Expect a UK release for the Nikon S800c at the end of September.
