Angry Birds Space sales go intergalactic

The fastest growing mobile game ever, Angry Birds Space hits 50 million downloads and now a theme park is on the way!

It’s now an official phenomenon. With more than 50 million downloads in just 35 days and the publisher Rovio claiming it to be “the fastest growing mobile game yet”, Angry Birds Space has beaten all previous Angry Birds releases.

Following claims that Angry Birds was already the most played game series of all time, this is yet another feather in its, erm, angry cap. As a comparison, the original Angry Birds game took an entire year to hit the 50 million mark, but as Angry Birds Space was rolled out on both the Apple and Android platforms to a much wider market it’s not entirely surprising.

With the publicly released total download figure remaining at 700 million for some time, the next big question is when will the series top 1 billion? While we wait, Angry Birds fans might be interested in Angry Birds Land, an official theme part that is landing soon in Finland where the Angry Birds were first hatched.

And as a thank you to the legions of Angry Birds Space fans, Rovio has made 10 new levels available free with the ‘Fry me to the moon’ update. Just download it and start slinging.
