Don’t miss a thing with a PVR
With so many programmes and films to choose from these days, it’s impossible to watch them all.
But this doesn’t mean that you need to miss out, why not treat yourself to a personal video recorder, or PVR?
As you’re probably aware, these are digital TV receivers with built-in hard drives. You can use them to pause or record live TV, or schedule a recording using the built-in Electronic Program Guide (EPG), which has up-to-date listings for all available channels.
You’ll often see PVR marketed under brand names like TiVo or Sky+ – both of which require you to sign up and pay a subscription fee – but there are plenty of set top boxes available for Freeview too.
All you need to do is connect them to your rooftop aerial and you should be up and running in minutes.
Most PVRs have two tuners built-in, so you can watch one channel and record another or, record two shows or events simultaneously if you’re out.
To improve the picture quality you may want to consider a splitter to break the signal from your aerial in two, and possibly a booster as well, but it’s well worth the extra cost.
