Microsoft has spent millions on perfecting the new-look interface. It’s pretty wonderful to use, offering a clear, intuitive interface that provides the features you need when and where you need them. It’s going to fit right in with Windows 8, Windows Phone and the new Office 365 too, so everything you use across your PC, tablet and phone will work and look the same.

2. Messenger and Skype

Skype in Outlook

Email isn’t going anywhere but today everyone wants the option of an instant conversation or instant answer – and some added voice and video will go down nicely too. Built into the right side of the Outlook page is the Microsoft Messenger instant messaging service, the same one that you may already use on your desktop and laptop systems. Outlook is also going to tie into Skype messaging and Facebook Chat to cover everything you’d want it to.

3. Office documents inside

For the workaholics a new Documents folder lists all your emails that have attached Office documents. Even better than this is the ability to edit those documents from within the Outlook.com website – no more downloads and uploads, you just edit documents online stored in the Skydrive cloud system.

Microsoft envision you using this for both sharing and storing your Office Documents via Outlook, but you’ll be able to use it to store whatever you like and share it between your desktops, laptops, phones and tablets, at home or on the move.

5. Integrated photo slideshows
