Skipping school just got a lot harder

Parents worry no more, child-tracking t-shirts are coming to a school near you, in Brazil.

Bad news for truanting Brazilian school children, Big Mother is watching you. At the cost of $670,000 authorities in Brazil are supplying 43,000 public school children with special chip-embedded t-shirts. The high-tech t-shirts can log exactly when a child arrives at the school and text message worried parents when they do or send a warning if they’re over twenty minutes late.

The devices are wash-proof, iron-proof and should even survive a game of conkers. Designed with an anti-tamper system preventing removal of the chip, we’re not sure if they can detect the entire garment being given to your best mate, while you skip class.

More worryingly the chips that have previously been used to track pets, could make their way into golf shoes, suit lapels or your work trousers, setting off alarms if you venture too close to the pub when you said you were coming home.
