Stop ID fraud
October 17th sees the start of the national Fraud Prevention Week, a campaign aimed at raising awareness of identity fraud – and how to help stop if from happening.
Identity fraud is one of those things that most of us think only happens to other people, but we are all potentially at risk of having our identity stolen unless we take some proper precautions.
One of the UK’s fastest growing crimes – as many as one in eight people have been affected – identity fraud affects individuals and businesses alike. Even though most of us are aware of it, not all of us do the things we should to combat it.
There had been 153,100 cases of bank account fraud in the first eight months of this year, with 47% of those being due to identity fraud.
If you’re one of the 91% of people concerned about ID fraud, then you can get more information on how and what to do with regard to preventing it – and you can download the guide – with plenty of facts and tips at the Stop ID Fraud website so take some time to have a look around.
