Get set for a summer of sport

This summer there’s a lot going on: music festivals, the Queen’s Jubilee and of course an amazing schedule of sport!

Whether you’re excited about the Olympics, are counting down the days to Euro 2012 or just

looking forward to the next race in the F1 calendar, you’ll want the best kit to experience it on.

Crystal clear and on demand

As well as the latest TV technology don’t forget that PVRs, projectors and screens can all add to the event.

Television

If you’re watching sport then you’ll want your TV to be able to cope with all the on screen action and the Samsung EH5300 with LED backlight produces sharper images, fantastic colour and clarity.

Combined with Full HD 1080p this means that all of the action will look great even if the results don’t.

If you miss any of the action, or the scheduling means that your favourite sports clash, with Samsung Smart TV you can access video on demand services or catch up with BBC iPlayer and other services.

Plus Samsung’s extended Personal Video Recorder feature makes catching up even easier. Simply plug your USB into the TV, select the channel, date and time and the PVR feature does the rest.

PVR

Don't miss a thing with a PVR

If your TV doesn’t come with a built-in PVR feature than a standalone PVR could be what you need.

A PVR is a digital TV receiver with built-in hard drives that allow you to pause and record live TV, or schedule a recording using the Electronic Program Guide (EPG).

Most PVRs have two tuners built-in, so you can watch one channel and record another or, record two shows or events simultaneously if you’re out.

They also come in a choice of standard or high definition quality and various hard drive capacities.

The Icecrypt T2400HD PVR is a great example. It comes with two HD tuners and with a massive 2TB hard drive (2000 GB) it will record up to 1000 hours of Freeview+ HD TV.

All you need to do is connect your PVR to your rooftop aerial and you should be up and running in minutes. To improve the picture quality you may want to consider a splitter to break the signal from your aerial in two, and possibly a booster as well, but it’s well worth the extra cost.

See the action on the big screen

Projector

With the vast menu of sporting excellence on offer this summer you might be thinking about inviting your friends over to follow the big games or races, so to make sure everyone can see the action a projector is just the job.

There’s a lot of choice so why not read our buyer’s guide, but if you’re looking for something that will do it all the Optoma HD200X Full HD home cinema and gaming projector is ideal.

The HD200X connects to HD games consoles, DVD and Blu-ray players, digital and satellite TV boxes as well as PCs, Macs and laptops.

The projector itself measures only 32cm wide x 23cm deep yet delivers 1500 lumens and 350:1 ANSI contrast ratio. This produces high definition images of breathtaking clarity with vibrant, perfectly balanced natural colour and outstanding detail.

Don’t forget to check out our range of projector screens too.

Stay up-to-date without having to be in front of the screen

Radio

If you prefer to tune in rather sit in, perhaps lounging in the garden with a BBQ, then a portable DAB radio will keep you up-to-date.

This retro-style leather radio from Technika transmits crystal clear DAB broadcasts as well as traditional FM stations, and comes with 10 preset stations so that you’ll be able to switch to suit your tastes quickly.

The radio is portable and runs on batteries or via a mains adaptor, which means that you can enjoy a summer of sport while you’re enjoying the summer too!

And if you don’t plan to move very far from your viewing spot an Igloo Beverage fridge could help to keep you cool.
