The Android PC is here…
A new VIA Technologies device heralds desktop Android PCs.

Here’s the VIA APC with a banana
Android certainly keeps grabbing the headlines but it’s usually in connection with a new phone or tablet launch. Now a new device from VIA could see tiny desktop PC devices running Android too.
Called VIA APC the package is a motherboard with an ARM processor and all the ports you need such as USB, HDMI video-out and networking included for $49 (£31).
Sounds great, but the main complaint is that the device only runs the aging Android 2.3 with no expected release of the more recent ICS Android 4.0.
Something that strikes us as odd is that the unit comes with 512MB of memory and 2GB of flash storage but a rather old 800MHz ARM v11 processor – more than enough to play Angry Birds!
