The toughest Olympus digital camera ever

Expert photo quality meets a rugged, go-anywhere build in the new Olympus TG-1.

A true tough guy and high-spec to boot

The Olympus TG-1 iHS has been officially revealed, and it’s the toughest and highest specification Olympus digital compact yet.

Designed to work underwater and in low-light conditions, it has an f/2.0 wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel CMOS sensor and a TruePic VI image processor. Olympus says this combination means the TG-1 is capable of taking photos that would have been impossible with previous ruggedised cameras.

As well as its high-end photo credentials, the TG-1 has some seriously impressive tough guy specs. It’s waterproof to 12m, shockproof up to 2m, can survive temperatures down to -10C and can withstand crushes of 100kg.

For those who like to travel, the TG-1 includes GPS, photo tagging and an electronic compass. An optional kit enables the camera to sink to 45m underwater with an enhanced flash, which should cater for even the most ambitious of divers.

The Olympus TG-1 iHS will be available from June for around £359.99.
