Twitter rival App.net in the works
Twitter watch out, there’s a new social messaging platform in town.

Dalton meets Mark – awkward
Recent moves by Twitter and Facebook to push advertising and other forms of revenue gained through user tracking has encouraged developer Dalton Caldwell to create a new social network called App.net.
As Caldwell says, “We believe that advertising-supported social services are so consistently and inextricably at odds with the interests of users and developers that something must be done.”
This move and a recent letter posted by Caldwell imply the start-up has gained the ire of Facebook and its supremo Mark Zuckerberg.
But this isn’t stopping the goodwill pouring into App.net – the first round of fundraising for the project has so far gained over $650,000, a good way past the original $500,000 required.
You can take a look at the very early alpha of the Twitter-like social service App.net here.
Give Dalton Caldwell your money and he’ll give you an ads-free Twitter.
