Xbox SmartGlass launches with Windows 8
It’s the killer tablet app that all Xbox fans have been waiting for.
When Microsoft announced SmartGlass at E3 we were very excited. An app that lets you stream games, movies and music from your Xbox 360 to other devices, it’s a great example of how all our technology will be connected in years to some.
After patiently waiting it seems the Windows 8 launch-day of 26 October will also be the first chance for everyone to try SmartGlass for themselves. And the word is that all the functionality required to unleash SmartGlass with your Xbox 360 will come bundled inside new Microsoft Surface Windows RT tablets.
The last Xbox 360 Dashboard update added the required software smarts to the console, it’s just the app end of the equation that everyone’s waiting for.
Microsoft has said SmartGlass features will be arriving on other mobile platforms soon after – Android, Apple iOS and Windows 7.5 – but it’s all on Microsoft Surface first.
