YouTube investing in 60 original channels
YouTube moves to become a true broadcaster in the internet age by funding original online content.

New for the UK The Jamie Oliver Food Channel
When you think of YouTube do you think of baby Charlie biting his older brother’s finger? Perhaps a sneezing baby panda bear or a cat sounding like it’s saying “no no no no no”?
While viral videos are great fun it’s no way to run a business, so YouTube is trying to become a legitimate broadcaster by funding more and more original content.
So far it has backed around 100 channels produced in the US, but now it has turned its attention to Europe looking to fund a further 60 channels in the UK, Germany and France, covering a broad range of categories including comedy, sport and health to name just a few.
For a sneak peek at what to expect from these new channels go view the YouTube Original Channels page. Or find out more from the YouTube official blog.
