How much heat?
Most electric fires offer a 2kw output which, roughly speaking, is the same output as a standard one-metre radiator. Most fires are fan-assisted and will often provide more than one heat setting.
Styles of electric fire
Stoves
Styled on the classic wood-burning version, electric stoves are versatile and practical, making them a very popular electric fire option. They have a realistic flame effect and real coal fuel bed; they can be hearth-mounted or positioned on the floor. The brightness and heat can also be adjusted.
Inset fires
Available in a wide choice of designs, an inset electric fire can be fitted into a fireplace opening, or secured flat to a wall using the optional spacer kit. These are ideal for replacing an old gas or electric fire within an existing fireplace, or for being used in conjunction with a surround set with a 75mm rebate allowing them to fit flat to the wall. Wall-hung
These contemporary wall-hung fires allow you to incorporate a fire into a room, which has no space for a surround set. Being wall-hung also means that it doesn’t need a fireplace opening, so you can choose exactly where you want it to be positioned in your room. With a warm underbed glow and a real pebble fuel bed, these make for a stylish and practical solution.
Suites
A great solution for rooms without a chimney or flue, an electric suite can usually be fitted flat against a wall with minimal assembly. With a mixture of real wood veneers and marble back panels and hearths, these products are a quality addition to any living room.
